The Story So Far..

Carl Mason BSc From an early age I developed a strong interest in technology and computing, which led to choosing science and maths-based qualifications. In 2008, I graduated from Loughborough University with First Class Honours in Computer Science (BSc). In what was a successful spell at university, I was awarded the finalist prize for the best academic performance, as well as being acknowledged for the highest scoring dissertation of the academic year. Other awards were obtained in my time at university and school, sponsored by well-known companies such as IBM, Accenture, Cisco and Rolls Royce. This academic recognition has been coupled with various industry experiences.

In 2006 I embarked upon a diploma in professional studies with Tyco Electronics UK where I worked within the eBusiness Systems team. Here I was responsible for maintaining as well as developing all intranets, extranet and brand sites that Tyco Electronics UK has. In addition to this I was responsible for developing new web-based applications in Microsoft C#.NET 2.0, for both Tyco Electronics EMEA and the US. My main achievement was the production of my very own application which I developed - The Events Management System (EMS) which Tyco Electronics now uses to broadcast details of EMEA Trade Shows and Events. I had to show initiative and good problem solving skills throughout in order to complete the timely development.

In addition to paid employment, since the year 2000 I took the initiative to use my graphic design and web development skills to start producing solutions for small businesses (ala CarlMason.net). The design work ranges from fully dynamic websites to brochures and business cards. I utilised the Internet as an advertising tool and word of mouth from past work experience to obtain new clients. The project-based work involved regular interaction with a real life client, thus improving oral and written communication skills.

Currently I am working with clients on new and exciting web-based projects, as well as developing my own software suite, called “WebSME”. (http://www.websme.net) which will be launched later this year. Which provides an ‘out of the box’ solution to integrating third party systems and the internet channel to maximise sales and lead generation.
